About Laurie

Laurie is dedicated to liberating students and fostering confidence and commitment to learning through engaging, responsive, rigorous instruction and curriculum that facilitates success for all. By pairing professional learning on culturally sustaining instruction, scaffolding and differentiation, literacy development, and healthy group dynamics with her ability to listen, problem-solve, collaboratively plan, and support colleagues in their own growth and development, she is able to see connections and overlap between multiple educational initiatives within organizations to maximize student growth and success, empowering educators and students in order to meet learners’ needs while celebrating their strengths.

When not championing the written word in classrooms, Laurie is a mother, partner, and proud resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her personal time is spent momming her two children, Lydia and Holden while mastering the mom-selfie, frequenting indie bookstores, and loving on all of the quirky fun Minneapolis has to offer. Laurie's writing can be found at the Huffington Post, Shakesville, and Medium.
